Behind the Scenes with Carmelita Fernandes, General Manager
With the complications and restrictions implemented as a result of the recent Covid-19 outbreak, seeing travel and tourism come to a complete standstill, the day-to-day operations of the Seymour Group have been challenged in a way not seen since the Second World War. But, in true Seymour fashion, our very dedicated and talented team has gone above and beyond to adapt our services in these trying times.
Carmelita is a familiar face to many as the gracious hostess of Greenhills Country House Hotel. Alongside her seriously devoted Greenhills team, they have been working tirelessly to do what they do best despite the challenges that have arisen. Read on as Carmelita gives us a behind the scenes look at what has been happening at Greenhills since lock down.
Unfortunately since lock down began we had to close the hotel to our beloved guests. My team here at the Greenhills has adjusted remarkably well taking into consideration how difficult the situation is, and have been flexible and creative. Although the doors were closed, we still wanted to provide a local service of our renowned gourmet dining so got to work preparing our new takeaway and home delivery services.
Visitors to our restaurant have always been treated to a high standard of service as well as impeccable award-winning food, so we aimed to offer the same level in our home delivery options and it is what led to us to use the tagline "From our house to your home." We want our customers to know they are getting the best quality dining experience delivered to their doorstep, exactly what they'd expect from dining at Greenhills.
The takeaway and delivery service has been a roaring success, particularly our Sunday lunches which are changed regularly to keep the menu fresh and exciting. Our Afternoon Tea deliveries have also proven very popular, especially over the Liberation Day weekend.
Now we have been able to reopen our terrace we have created a brand new terrace dining menu and Afternoon Tea menu which is the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon in our beautiful gardens, with social distancing taken into account.
Of course we are missing our normal routines and interacting with the whole team on a daily basis. It's unusual not having a hotel buzzing with happy guests and being there to assist with all their needs and requests. But as soon as it is safe for us to reopen our doors, our guests have the perfect welcome to look forward to! Our high standards of service will remain alongside new higher standards of safety and intensive cleaning procedures on the premises. We also can't wait to properly celebrate our centenary with new special dishes and of course our centenary cocktails - the George Frederick and Adelina Beatrice!
As much as this has been a very difficult period, I am sure that we will all come out much stronger and we can't wait to welcome back our guests as old friends.
