Greenhills is Perfect for Jersey's Green Lanes
Walking in leafy green lanes is one of the finest pleasures that Jersey has to offer. It's incredible that such a tiny island has over 500 miles of country roads and cliff paths for the avid rambler to enjoy.
A leisurely stroll
Nestled in a quiet corner of St Peter, right on the border with St Lawrence, Greenhills is an ideal base from which to begin and end your walks. A leisurely stroll east will take you to the picturesque and ancient St Lawrence Church and its surrounding village, from where you can turn north to reach Hamptonne, a fine example of the way Jersey's country life used to be.
Small is beautiful
The beauty of walking in a small island is that you can easily choose to make up your own route, or you can set off on one of the many planned walks that you'll find on the Visit Jersey website.
A fantastic choice for discovering the lanes around Greenhills is the Heart of St Lawrence walk, a five to six mile journey that takes you from the island's south coast right into the green heart of Jersey.
An alternative route
You can start the walk at Bel Royal and visit Greenhills for a refreshing break halfway round, as marked on the map. However, in our experience, parking can be difficult in the Bel Royal area, although it is well served by buses.
An excellent alternative is to begin and end the walk at Greenhills. You can use the exercise to burn up calories after a stunning meal in our restaurant or, having fortified yourselves with a drink and snack in our bar or sitting beside the pool in our gorgeous floral garden, you can set off on your adventure full of energy for the road ahead.
A walker's paradise
Jersey is a walker's paradise and Greenhills is a wonderful place from which to begin your journey into the leafy green lanes. We look forward to seeing you soon!
