Our favourite beer gardens in Jersey
Enjoying a drink in a beer garden on a sunny day - you'd be hard pressed to find any activity that better sums up British summers. If you're visiting Jersey and wondering if you'll be able to indulge in this summer staple, the good news is yes!
There are lots of lovely beer gardens dotted around the island. In this article we'll cover a few of our favourites that are within easy striking distance of Greenhills Country House Hotel.
Moulin de Lecq
Situated just across the road from the beautiful bay of Greve de Lecq, the aptly named Moulin de Lecq is an ancient watermill turned country pub that serves a fantastic range of real ales and ciders, as well as a hearty selection of pub food.
The original building and wooden watermill date back more than 600 years, and the entire premises is now recognised as one of Jersey's historic landmarks. In summer the garden is full of outdoor seating, and from 10am to about 6pm the sunshine beats down on this much-loved Jersey gem.
The pub is located opposite Greve de Lecq beach in the parish of St Ouen, roughly a 10 minute drive or 20 minute cycle from Greenhills.
Watersplash
Whilst not technically a garden, the terrace at the Watersplash Beach Bar and Diner is an absolute must-visit if you're a fan of a drink with a view.
Located smack bang in the middle of St Ouen's Bay and just 10m from the sand itself, you simply cannot beat the Watersplash for location.
On clear days you'll be treated to the full force of the sun from about 10 am to 10pm. And with the Atlantic Ocean stretching away to the west, sunsets don't get much better. Keep your eye out for the green flash as the last of the summer sun drops beneath the horizon!
St Mary's Country Inn
If you were to draw a country pub, you'd draw St Mary's Country Inn. It's picture perfect in every way, and only a five minute drive north along St Peter's Valley from Greenhills. You could even take a bracing stroll there.
Out front is a small but perfectly formed beer garden. The foliage provides plenty of shade on a hot summer day, and the bar is just a stone's throw away should you require regular refreshments.
If you're feeling peckish, the restaurant offers good food at reasonable prices.
Trinity Arms
This recently refurbished family pub is an institution on the north coast. It's just a 15 minute drive or 30 minute cycle from Greenhills, and has a beer garden the size of which is rarely seen in Jersey.
Newly installed bench seating and booths provide ample space, and the outdoor dining experience is second to none. The menu has all your Jersey favourites on it, making this a brilliant spot for lunch in the countryside. And if you fancy staying on after the sun's gone down, the beer garden is beautifully lit at night.
Alfresco dining at Greenhills
The gardens and pool area at Greenhills Country House Hotel are the perfect spot for a relaxed drink or bite to eat on a sunny summer's day. Sheltered by the historic hotel and surrounding trees, you'll feel like you've truly escaped from everyday life.
