Three reasons why families love holidaying with us

Since the Merton first opened its doors on Belvedere Hill in 1921, we've welcomed every type of guest, from experienced solo travellers to extended families on their very first overseas trip.

Families are always made to feel welcome at The Merton. Over the years we've adapted the hotel's rooms, entertainment and facilities to ensure kids and adults of every age have a holiday to remember for all the right reasons. 

In 2019 we're looking forward to welcoming hundreds of holidaying families through our doors once more. Here are three reasons we think you'll find it hard to find a more suitable hotel and resort in Jersey. 

Reason 1: Activities, activities, activities

Kids love The Merton because it's impossible to get bored here. Our guests and members get access to the Island's only indoor/outdoor Aquadome, complete with cascade fountains, flumes and a FlowRider. The whole complex is supervised by lifeguards, so you can relax on on a sun lounger whilst the kids let off some steam.

Talking of steam, our older guests are welcome to use our steam and sauna rooms, the perfect way to recharge the batteries. Who says family holidays can't be relaxing?

Inside the Aquadome it's always a tropical 27 degrees, which means you'll never be stuck for awesome things to do if the weather throws a wobbly.

The Aquadome is our trump card, but the exciting activities don't stop there. The hotel has extensive gardens, a play area, a games zone and there's always our incredibly popular Kids Zone that runs nightly throughout the school holidays.

Reason 2: Nightly entertainment for guests of all ages

For young ones, the Kids Zone and XST teenage club provide the perfect place to meet new friends, explore the hotel and make the most of their holiday. 

But we don't let the kids have all the fun. Every night, once the kids have settled down, The Star Room is brought to life with a fantastic series of dance, music, comedy and cabaret shows. Don your dancing shoes and come and join the fun! The bar's open until late and our nightly shows provide the perfect opportunity to let your hair down.

Reason 3: Food and drink for every taste

There's nowhere in Jersey where you'll find a wider selection of dining options under one roof than at the Merton. We're the proud owners of six very different restaurants, cafés & bars, so whatever you fancy, you'll find it here.

The Belvedere is our largest and most diverse restaurant. Morning and night The Belvedere serves buffet style all you can eat feasts, featuring classic dishes from around the world and child friendly foods that kids can't get enough off.

If you love Italian food (and who doesn't?), then chuck on your glad rags and introduce yourself to Bonetti's, our classic Italian bistro. Each night you'll be able to choose from an à la carte menu featuring all the Italian classics from pizza to pasta and much much more. 

Jersey Joe's Diner is our answer to the classic American diner. Joe's serves fantastic hotdogs, burgers and milkshakes. It's always a hit with the kids - and a guilty pleasure of a lot of adults too!

Cascades Café Bar, a great spot inside the Aquadome for a quick bite. 

The Lobby Bar serves a delicious array of bar snacks and afternoon tea, and it's also a great place to sneak off during a quiet afternoon and enjoy some live music. 

The Commentary Box is the Merton's 'pub': the place for pre- & post-dinner drinks, and where you'll catch all the latest sports action.
