Stretch and tone at Pilates
Have you ever considered joining a Pilates class? Here’s everything you need to know about this unique form of exercise, and when you can join us to try it out for yourself.
What is Pilates?
Pilates, often associated with yoga, concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. Similar to Yoga, Pilates concentrates on posture, flexibility and balance, as well as the mind-body connection. You’ll flow through a series of exercises and movements, sometimes using equipment such as balls and bands.
Benefits
There are many benefits to practicing Pilates regularly, such as:
Good posture: Pilates will teach you to gain and maintain good posture. The exercises require that your body is always in alignment.
Muscle Tone: The exercises involve the use of muscles that you may not use on a daily basis. After the initial soreness, you'll find that your muscles will be much more toned.
Flat abdominal muscles: Because Pilates focuses on strengthening your core, practicing regularly can help you achieve a flat stomach.
Improves your balance: Through the mind-body connection which is taught in Pilates you will become much more aware of how your body moves and performs.
Not only does Pilates have numerous health benefits, but it can also help reduce stress, regulate your breathing and bring calm to the mind by focusing on the body.
