60 Years of Making Memories with the JHA
The Jersey Hospitality Association (JHA) is celebrating it's 60th anniversary in November. To mark the occasion, the JHA is asking islanders, visitors and businesses to get involved by rooting around in old drawers and filing cabinets with a view to discovering and sharing their Jersey holiday memorabilia with the JHA via Facebook.
Jersey's tourism sector enjoyed a huge boom from the 1950s onwards, and with such an enormously rich post-war history there are bound to be hundreds, or even thousands of forgotten images from the island's glory days as one of Europe's top holiday destinations.
Of course, at Seymour Hotels we still hold a wealth of information from the sixties, seventies and eighties - in fact all the way to the present day, and we're delighted to be able to share it with the JHA. This old advert for the Hotel de la Plage is an good example of the fascinating records we hold in our archives.
As well as this visual celebration of the people and places that form Jersey's tourism history, the JHA is also holding a gala dinner on 24th November, at which industry personalities past and present will get together to relive old times and to make plans for the new!
You can find out more about the JHA's 60th anniversary celebrations by visiting their Facebook page. Whether you've ever worked in the tourism sector or not, the images are sure to trigger memories of Jersey and its past.
