The Watersplash achieves ‘Plastic Free’ status
This week the Watersplash was delighted to confirm it has received ‘Plastic Free’ status from local group Plastic Free Jersey.
To achieve this status, we have removed three items of plastic from our day to day operations in the restaurant and bar. These included plastic straws, which have been replaced with biodegradable paper straws, swapping the polystyrene takeaway containers and plastic cutlery for Vegware compostable alternatives and removing the condiment sachets which have been replaced with reusable squeezy bottles.
This is just the start of our journey towards phasing out all single use plastics at the Watersplash, a process which we are still diligently working towards.
We have taken further steps including the removal of all single use plastic cups, which we are replacing with ECO cups and an increased stock of reusable glasses. We have also swapped the individual jam and conserves packets with recyclable glass ramekins.
The Watersplash enjoys one of the most stunning natural views on the island, overlooking St Ouen's bay. By working towards eliminating single use plastic, we hope to help preserve this environment so that generations to come will be able to enjoy this beautiful coastline.
The continued reduction and removal of single use plastic consumption is an ongoing project throughout the Seymour Group. We will be working towards achieving ‘Plastic Free’ status at our hotels the Pomme d’Or, Greenhills and the Merton over the coming weeks.
