Channel Islands Heritage Festival 2017
We are excited to welcome back the Channel Islands Heritage Festival this weekend. Running from Saturday 8th April to Wednesday 10th May, the programme features a huge range of inspiring events focusing on the islands’ heroes, myths and legends.
The Pomme d'Or Hotel is immensely proud or our role in Jersey's heritage. Originally opened in 1837, it was during the Second World War that the the Pomme found itself at the centre of events. The hotel was initially taken over as German Naval Headquarters when Jersey was occupied by the German forces. However, on May 9th 1945, the Union Jack was raised on the balcony of the Pomme d’Or to mark the Liberation of Jersey from the German forces, with crowds of locals cheering below. A proud moment for Jersey and for the Pomme d'Or.
If you're taking part in any Heritage Festival events in St Helier this year, or tackle the self-guided Heroes, Myths and Legends of the South trail, the Pomme offers the perfect heritage-inspired stop for refreshments. Our Café Bar is open from morning to night, with a menu that takes you from breakfast, via coffee, lunch and afternoon tea, to dinner and late night snacks and drinks.
We hope you enjoy the Channel Islands Heritage Festival, and look forward to welcoming you at the Pomme!
