Cocktail of the Month: the Negroni
As legend has it, the Negroni was first mixed when Count Camillo Negroni instructed a Florence bar tender to strengthen his favourite cocktail, the Americano. The bar tender substituted the soda water for gin, garnished it with a peel of orange and the Negroni was born.
After the Negroni's popularity exploded, the Count's family founded the Negroni Distillerie in Treviso and produced a ready-made version of the drink called, Antico Negroni 1919.
Although still available today, the ready-made version just doesn't hit the mark, and at the Pomme our bartenders only make Negronis with the best ingredients.
What's in a Pomme Negroni?
Our Negroni is a beautifully simple cocktail combining equal parts Bombay Sapphire gin, Campari and sweet red Vermouth, served over ice and garnished with a slice of orange peel in an old fashioned tumbler.
A Negroni has a distinct and refreshingly bitter taste, making it a perfectly sophisticated aperitif. Pop in to the Pomme and try one!
Where can you try it?
The Negroni and the rest of our cocktail menu, including a wide range of fantastic gins, is available in The Café Bar and The Lobby Bar. The Café Bar also serves classic dishes from around the world and is open to the public each day until 11pm. The Lobby Bar is open to hotel residents and their guests until late.
