Come for the rugby. Stay for the weekend!
The fortnightly trip to the Jersey Reds’ Stade Santander International in St Peter has become a weekend ritual for many islanders, who gather to cheer on the local side.
National league level is rare among other Jersey-based sports clubs, so there is always immense pride when attending rugby games! The Reds have now taking part in six successive seasons within Rugby Union's second tier, and are hoping to continue their role as a settled member of the National One competition - although some fans dare to dream for more!
History predicts a one sided affair
Over the pass few seasons the Jersey Reds vs London Scottish fixture has predominantly gone the way of the Scots - with the only exception being back in March 2016 when the Reds won through a late penalty try. On current form both sides are struggling to get momentum this season, and so this match will see both teams needing to claim crucial league points.
The perfect hosts
Although passionate, Jersey fans are known for the incredible welcome they give visiting fans, who they know have made an big effort to fly across to attend the match. Visiting Londoners will have to plan their journey a little bit more in advance then they may be used to, but it'll all be worth it once they arrive to experience the atmosphere of Jersey's home ground and what the island has to offer.
When it comes to travels, London Scottish fans have plenty of options, with Gatwick and London City providing regular flights to and from the Channel Islands several times a day.
A superb town location
Whether you plan to stay for one night or two (or perhaps even a whole week!), the Pomme d'Or is perfectly placed for your trip to Jersey. Located in the heart of St Helier, surrounded by the island's best bars and restaurants, it's an easy bus or taxi journey from both the airport and the ground.
Match day weekends are popular, so it's a good idea to book your tickets in advance. Once you've made your reservation, you can relax in the knowledge that you'll be perfectly positioned to enjoy the match, and that everyone at the Pomme goes out of their way to make visiting rugby supporters welcome.
