Join in the fun at the Halkett Hoedown
This Sunday, just after high noon, the usually quiet streets of Jersey’s town centre will be invaded by budding cowboys & cowgirls as the Halkett Hoedown makes a welcome return for the bank holiday weekend.
Showdown on the Halkett
Halkett Place will be transformed into the American Wild West, with delicious food vans, a family play area, saloon-style bars and two stages providing live music throughout the day.
Community fundraising is at the heart of the event, with local volunteers, talent and businesses all getting involved to help the cause. Several charities are set to benefit from the money raised this year, including Jersey Alzheimer’s Association, Headway Jersey, British Heart Foundation Jersey, Brig-y-Don Children’s Charity and Jersey Mencap.
Time to Yeehaw!
Though not compulsory, cowboy attire and fancy dress are greatly encourage to help get the party into full swing. There will be a prize for the best costume on the day, so be sure to dust off the old boots and spurs to impress the judges.
No cowboy or cowgirl rides on an empty stomach, so before striding into town why not make the Cafe Bar your watering hole and have a US-flavoured brunch with our American Style Pancakes, or tuck into a steak from the grill. Just be sure to tie the horses up outside before entering!
The Halkett Hoedown will run from 1pm until 10pm on Sunday the 27th of August.
