Meet Marianne, our new Meetings and Events Manager

The Pomme provides our guests with much more than just a bed for the night. In fact, our event spaces are some of the best in the Island and are fitted with state of the art audio and video equipment.

Making sure our guests' events run like clockwork is our dedicated Events Team, now lead by our new Meetings and Events Manager, Marianne Van Heel. 

Marianne takes over the managers role after a highly successful two and half years at The Pomme. To get to know her a little better, keep reading.

Where were you born, raised and educated?

I was born and raised in Holland and studied International tourism and event management. I also did a study year in Australia in 2010, focusing on Hotel Management.

Where else have you worked?

I previously worked at the Grand Hotel in Jersey. I started on reception then moved into event management.

How long have you lived in Jersey?

On and off since 2010. I first came over to Jersey when college sent me here to do internships at St Brelade's Bay Hotel and The Grand for two summers. Once I graduated I spent another year at The Grand until leaving to go travelling. In 2016 I moved back to Jersey and began working here at The Pomme d’Or.

How long have you worked at the hotel?

I started in August 2016 on reception, then I moved to the events team in February this year. 

What’s your favourite part of your job?

I love organising things! My favourite part of the job is to start with the original enquiry, helping the clients to visualise their event and make it a success, especially weddings and social functions.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I spend most of my evenings after work in the gym. On the weekend I love spending time with friends, going to the cinema or out for dinners.

What are you recommendations for visitors to Jersey?

I would definitely recommend St Brelade's Bay - I always get a holiday feeling when I’m there. And of course La Mare Vineyard for a cheeky glass of wine and some handmade chocolates.

Also everybody should go to the Merton entertainment shows, they’re so much fun!
