Davina Powell's Story - 1993

Just after our wedding in 1993 Mark and I travelled to jersey to stay at the honeymoon hotel. (Davina and Mark Stuart). We had the most wonderful time, the hotel was amazing and we loved the on site entertainment and excellent food. 

We met a couple from Sheffield, Joan and Ronnie who I still write to each year and I know that they still visit the hotel. Mark and I returned for many many years after that until sadly he passed away in 2002.

In 2007 I re-married and became Mrs Powell married to Neil. I never really enjoyed flying but told him I would love to go back to jersey one day. He was keen on the idea but insisted we fly somewhere else before going to jersey. Our son milo was born in 2010 which meant less holidays for a while but in 2016 I kept my promise and we flew to London! Finally last summer, 2019 I brought my family to stay at the Merton hotel. We stayed in one of the apartments which was fabulous! My husband and son were not disappointed. We had the most wonderful 10 days.

 In particular our son enjoyed every aspect of the holiday, he learned to surf, he went on stage with the entertainers and loved all of the food on offer. I was delighted how well they catered for my needs too as I now have coeliac disease, the chefs were amazing and most food was labelled-fantastic! We definitely left wanting more and have booked for summer 2020! We also have friends joining us on this trip which I’m sure will make it even more memorable. We couldn’t recommend the Merton more highly.
