Our Love for Le Coie Hotel - 1984

Emma Brown's Story - 1984

In 1984 I was 8 years old and having been inspired by Bergerac my parents decided to take myself and my younger Brother to Jersey on holiday, this started a love affair with the beautiful island and the Seymour Hotels that is still with our family today.

Every year we would spend a week at the Le Coie hotel flying initially with DanAir from Bournemouth Airport, in the early days we would stay full board and I still remember the packed lunches the hotel provided for our day excursions on Mascot Coaches. Dinner times in the dinning room were always a highlight, we would get to know the dinning staff, waitresses and bar staff as they returned every season, after dinner it was bingo then we would dance the night away in the Ballroom to the resident band 'Split Level'.

I vividly remember the announcements made for rooms to contact reception for telephone calls and popping out every morning to the window of a house on Janvrin road where newspapers were sold. I was so sad when this hotel closed due to it providing me with my most happy childhood memories. I still love Jersey and stay at the Merton Hotel these days, in fact when I married in September 2018 there was no question where I wanted to spend my honeymoon....The Merton Suites! We had a fabulous time and look forward to returning in the very near future.
